Wheat Crop Advisory (15 Days Before Harvest)

Stage: 10–15 Days Before Harvest

1️⃣ Irrigation Management

  • Ensure the last irrigation has already been completed
  • Do not apply further irrigation, as excess moisture can cause lodging and reduce grain quality

2️⃣ Spray & Chemical Use

  • Avoid all pesticide and fungicide sprays at this stage
  • Late application may lead to chemical residue in grains, affecting quality and market acceptance

3️⃣ Pest & Disease Monitoring

  • Regularly monitor the crop for:
    • Aphids infestation
    • Blight or rust symptoms
  • In case of severe infestation, consult an expert before any treatment

4️⃣ Crop Maturity Indicators

  • Wheat crop is nearing harvest when:
    • Spikes turn golden yellow
    • Grains become hard and firm
    • Moisture level is around 20–25%

5️⃣ Harvest Preparation

  • Arrange harvesting equipment/labour in advance
  • Clear the field of stones, wood, or obstacles
  • Check weather forecast to avoid harvesting during rainfall

6️⃣ Storage Preparation

  • Clean and dry the storage area/godown
  • Keep storage bags ready
  • Use safe storage practices (like neem leaves or approved fumigation methods)

7️⃣ Quality & Yield Tips

  • Avoid early harvesting → leads to immature grains
  • Avoid delayed harvesting → increases grain shattering losses
  • Timely harvesting ensures better yield and higher market price
